Lab software for a small lab, for ₹3,000 once
Most lab software is priced for a chain and sold on a subscription. If you run a single-counter pathology lab, you are paying every month for modules you will never open. SamLab Express is a one-time ₹3,000 licence: one desktop, three logins, and the things a small lab actually does all day — register, bill, report, back up. Offline.
What ₹3,000 includes
Express grants 11 modules, on 1 desktop, for 3 logins. The owner is one of those three. Staff you never give a login to — a phlebotomist recorded only as referring staff — do not use up a seat.
- Patients & registrationFull patient register, walk-in and referral capture.
- Billing & receiptsInvoice, discount in ₹ or %, split Cash/UPI/Bank/Credit, part payments.
- BarcodePrint and scan sample barcodes.
- ReportsEnter results and print reports.
- NABL report templatesAccreditation-ready report formats out of the box.
- ABDM / ABHA (FHIR)Submit to the national health stack when you are online.
- RGHS uploadFor labs empanelled under the Rajasthan scheme.
- Local + Google Drive backupYour data on your machine, backed up off it.
- Basic mastersTests, rates, doctors, staff.
What ₹3,000 does not include
We would rather you buy the right plan than be disappointed by the cheap one. These are genuinely not in Express — they begin at Pro (₹10,000 one-time, 5 logins, 2 desktops).
- Analyzer / LIS auto-pullResults still get typed in. Analyzer interfacing starts at Pro.
- Report designerYou get the NABL templates, not the drag-and-drop designer.
- Cloud syncExpress backs up locally and to Drive; live cloud sync starts at Pro.
- MIS dashboardsBusiness dashboards start at Pro.
- Accounting, bank reconciliation & B2B ratesStarts at Pro.
- Android appExpress is Desktop or Web. Android uplift starts at Pro.
The one question that decides your plan: do you run an analyzer every day? If yes, Express will have your staff re-typing results — choose Pro and connect the machine. If your lab is mostly manual and outsourced work, Express is genuinely enough.
One-time versus a subscription
A one-time licence changes the arithmetic. You pay ₹3,000 once, and optionally ₹1,500 a year for AMC (updates and priority support). If you skip the AMC, the software keeps running — you simply stop receiving updates.
Against any monthly plan, the break-even is short. A subscription at ₹2,000/month costs ₹24,000 in year one; Express costs ₹3,000, or ₹4,500 with AMC. The saving compounds every year you keep the lab open — which is the argument, not a discount.
Frequently asked questions
How many people can use SamLab Express?+
Three logins, on one desktop installation. The owner counts as one of the three. Staff who never log in — a phlebotomist you simply record as a referring staff member — do not consume a seat.
Is ₹3,000 really one-time, or is there a renewal?+
The licence is one-time. There is no monthly subscription and no per-invoice fee. An optional AMC (₹1,500/year on Express) covers updates and priority support — the software keeps working if you do not renew it.
Does Express connect to my analyzer?+
No. Analyzer/LIS interfacing begins on the Pro plan. On Express, results are entered manually. If your lab runs an analyzer you use daily, budget for Pro (₹10,000 one-time) rather than Express.
Does Express work offline?+
Yes. Offline-first is core to every plan, not an upgrade. Registration, billing and report printing run against a local database with no internet, which is the whole point for a small lab in a town with unreliable connectivity.
Can I upgrade later?+
Yes. Moving from Express to Pro raises your limits to 5 logins and 2 desktops and unlocks analyzer interfacing, the report designer, cloud sync, MIS and accounting. Your data carries over.
What do I actually need to run it?+
One Windows 10/11 PC. That machine holds the database, so use the computer that will actually sit at your counter.
