- Cloud and AI billing
- Cloud sync, cloud backup and SamLab AI run on our servers, so they are optional and billed separately from the licence, on Pro plans and above. Everything that runs on your own machine — registration, billing, samples, result entry, reports, analyzers and accounting — is covered by the licence. - SamLab AI allowance
- 100 free queries a day, pooled across the whole organisation — an introductory offer, withdrawn only after 30 days’ notice.
- Free trial
- SamLab is a Windows desktop application. On first launch choose "Start free trial", enter your email and type the one-time code we send you — that unlocks every feature for 7 days, with no card. samlab.in/trial
- Outside India

Platforms
- Desktop
- A desktop application for Windows 10 and 11, on every plan. Each plan covers a fixed number of desktop installations and staff logins (seats) — see the plan table.
- Web
- Express is sold as either a desktop or a web edition. With cloud sync on, a web dashboard reads the synced data.
- Android
- An optional Android app on Pro and Executive.
- Several PCs in one lab
- For several machines on one premises the LAN Data Node is the right answer: it is instant and needs no internet. Cloud Sync is for joining separate locations, and for keeping a copy off site.
Offline behaviour
- With no internet
- On a PC that has already been activated, the sign-in screen accepts your Org Code plus a staff username and password created in Organization & Users — no internet needed at sign-in. Only the one-time activation has to happen online.
- Licence check
- An activated PC keeps working offline for 30 days from its last successful licence check, and starts warning around day 25 so there is runway. Connect it to the internet once — even a phone hotspot for a minute — and the warning clears itself.
- Analyzers during an outage
- The analyzer connection is a local cable or network link between the instrument and the computer running SamLab, so results keep arriving and keep being filed during an outage. Cloud sync catches up afterwards; the bench does not stop.
- During a trial
- A trial or demo install keeps everything on the PC and uploads nothing. Cloud storage begins only when the licence says so, so an evaluation never puts patient data online.

- Direction
- One-way. SamLab reads results from the instrument and files them against the right sample by barcode. It does not send an order or a worklist back to the analyzer, and no driver in the catalogue carries an order type. If a vendor tells you their link is two-way, ask which direction carries the order.

- Accreditation
- NABL-format report templates, ready for assessment. Accreditation is granted to the laboratory, never to its software. No lab system can be “NABL certified” on your behalf — what software decides is how much of the record-keeping an assessment examines happens by itself. samlab.in/nabl
- E-mail delivery
- From the report or receipt preview, Send email sends the PDF from the lab’s own Gmail or Google Workspace address, with the lab’s name as the sender — one report at a time, on every plan, with no automatic or bulk e-mail. samlab.in/integrations/email
- WhatsApp delivery
- Two ways. On every plan, the report preview opens the lab’s own WhatsApp — the desktop app or WhatsApp Web — with a link to the report, and the operator presses Send. On Pro and above, a lab can connect its own WhatsApp Business account so reports go out by themselves with the PDF attached. Those messages are charged per message, and attaching the PDF needs an active cloud plan, because the PDF is served from SamLab’s storage. samlab.in/integrations/whatsapp
Data storage and security
- Where the data lives
- In a SQLite database file on the Windows PC you installed SamLab on, under that machine’s application-support folder, in a directory named for your organisation. That file is the primary copy, and nothing about registering a patient, raising a bill, entering a result or printing a report requires the internet. samlab.in/security
- Does patient data leave the PC?
- Not unless you switch cloud sync on, and it ships off. With sync enabled, business records are mirrored to a per-organisation area of our cloud database (Google Cloud) so a second PC, a branch or the web dashboard can read them. Result revision history stays local even then.
- Cloud data location
- Google Cloud, in the USA, as listed among the sub-processors in the privacy policy. samlab.in/privacy
- Backups
- Daily by default, to a folder you choose and — if you connect it — your own Google Drive. We keep no copy.
- Backup encryption
- A .samlab backup is a standard ZIP of the whole database plus any attached report documents, deliberately unencrypted so it always restores without a passphrase or a lost key. The only sealed parts inside it are the saved sign-in and integration keys, which Windows locks to the PC that made the backup. That puts the choice of where the file lives in your hands — treat it as you would the paper register.
- When cloud service ends
- Cloud data is kept for 4 months, then permanently deleted; the lab is warned 1 month before, and can download its own archive at any point in that window. samlab.in/cloudcharges
- Certifications
- SamLab holds no ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification, does not claim HIPAA compliance and does not sign BAAs. Accreditations such as NABL, CAP and ISO 15189 are granted to laboratories, never to software.
- Uptime SLA
- We publish no uptime figure and offer no SLA credit. It matters less here than for a web-only LIS, for the honest reason that the desktop app keeps working when our infrastructure — or your internet — does not.
