Email Report Delivery for Lab Software

Available today

From the report or receipt preview, Send email sends the PDF from the lab’s own Gmail or Google Workspace address, with the lab’s name as the sender — one report at a time, on every plan, with no automatic or bulk e-mail. Where the lab publishes report links, the e-mail carries the link as well, and a reply lands in the lab’s own inbox.

The detail

The account is connected once per PC, and SamLab asks Google only for permission to send — it cannot read, search or delete anything in the mailbox. Mail goes out through Google’s Gmail service rather than SMTP, so an Outlook, Zoho or other non-Google mailbox cannot be used. Gmail caps a message at about 18 MB of attachment, and SamLab checks the PDF against that before it sends. SamLab’s own account and licence e-mails to you are a separate thing: that is the vendor writing to the lab, not the lab writing to its patients.

How it is set up

  1. 1

Settings → Lab Profile → Email sending → Sign in with Google, once on each PC that will send.

  2. 2

Open the report or receipt preview and check the address in the Email box.

  3. 3

Press Send email. The PDF goes from your lab’s own address, with the lab’s name as the sender.

Questions labs ask

Can I email a report to a referring doctor?+

Yes. Put the doctor’s address in the preview’s Email box and press Send email; the PDF goes from your lab’s own Gmail or Google Workspace address.

Which email accounts work?+

Gmail and Google Workspace. SamLab sends through Google’s Gmail service, not SMTP, so Outlook, Zoho and other mailboxes cannot be connected.

Can SamLab read our mailbox?+

No. It asks Google for send-only permission, which gives it no way to read, search or delete your mail.

Can reports be emailed automatically, or in bulk?+

No. Each e-mail is sent by an operator from the preview, one report at a time. There is no automatic or bulk e-mail.

Does it cost extra?+

No. E-mail sending is on every plan and uses your lab’s own Google account.
