UPI Payments for Lab Billing
Available todaySamLab's billing module supports UPI collection alongside GST-compliant invoicing, so front-desk staff can take payments by UPI without a separate app. Bills, receipts and day-end totals stay in one ledger. See the UPI billing flow live at a demo.
The detail
Most walk-in patients in Indian labs now pay by UPI. The practical need is not a payment gateway but a way to record the payment against the invoice so the day’s collection reconciles — including part payments and the advance a patient leaves against a pending report.
How it is set up
- 1
Record the payment against the invoice with its mode, so cash, UPI and card are separable at day end.
- 2
Part payments append to the invoice’s ledger rather than replacing what was there.
- 3
An overpayment becomes a patient advance rather than an unexplained surplus.
- 4
Reconcile the day’s collection by mode from the financial registers.
Questions labs ask
Does SamLab collect the UPI payment itself?+
No. The patient pays by whatever UPI app and QR the lab already uses; SamLab records it against the invoice. That keeps the lab out of a payment-aggregator dependency for counter collections.
Can a patient pay half now and half on collection?+
Yes. Payments append to a ledger on the invoice, so the balance is always the arithmetic of what was actually received.
What happens if they overpay?+
It is held as a patient advance rather than being absorbed, so it can be applied to the next visit or refunded with a trail.
