The detail
Urine work splits into two things that are easy to conflate: the reagent-strip analyzer output (pH, protein, glucose, ketones and the rest) and the microscopy findings entered by the technologist. They belong to the same report but arrive by different routes, and a catalogue that merges them tends to lose one.
How it is set up

Connect the analyzer to the lab PC over its existing port — RS-232 serial or TCP/IP, whichever the instrument already uses.

Install the parser bundle for your exact make and model. It carries the protocol, the transport and the code map that ties the machine’s test codes to your SamLab catalogue.

Questions labs ask
Does microscopy come from the analyzer?+
Strip chemistry does; microscopy (casts, crystals, epithelial cells, bacteria) is entered by the technologist unless you run a dedicated sediment analyzer. Both sit on the one report.
Can I report /HPF fields alongside strip results?+
Yes — they are separate parameters on the same panel, which is the arrangement that survives contact with a real urine report.
What if the strip analyzer reports a semi-quantitative grade?+
Grades such as trace/1+/2+ are carried as sent. They are not silently converted into numbers.
